Essig Residence

A prefab-ready cold-formed home engineered to its own shipping limits: no panel over 300 pounds, nothing longer than a 40-foot truck bed.

The Problem

Prefabrication moves constraints upstream: every wall panel and truss had to respect the truck bed and a two-man lift, floor trusses bear on CMU piers, and the whole package — calcs to machine files — had to arrive fabrication-ready.

What TCE Did

  • Engineered the complete panel and truss package to IBC 2020 / ASCE 7-22 at 110 mph wind
  • Designed 12-inch floor trusses with 18-inch girders on CMU piers, plus header trusses B1–B12 through revision
  • Delivered the full prefab set: foundation sheets, 3D views, IFC, CAD, and per-assembly material reports
